Why Join SAF?

Competition for consumer dollars is rising. Building a profitable business involves risks as well as rewards.
And your challenges keep mounting. How do you:

  • Get more customers through your door?
  • Ensure existing customers keep coming back again and again?
  • Produce effective marketing materials to keep you out in front of potential customers?
  • Keep trained and productive employees?
  • Make the best use of your time to build a successful operation?
  • Understand and stay ahead of the trends that impact the floral industry and your business?
We know how. That's what the Society of American Florists (SAF) is all about. Your Growth is Our Business.

Promoting Our Industry

"I tell other growers that belonging to SAF does not cost, it pays. Plus, the more you participate the more you get for your investment."
H. Michael Mellano, Sr., AAF
Mellano & Company San Luis Rey, CA

Could your business use an in-house marketing consultant or advertising agency? SAF helps you build your business by delivering professional marketing tools that are ready to use. We want to make it simple. You'll save time and money, boost sales and enhance your professional image with SAF's print and radio ads, color photography, direct mail and numerous other marketing materials. Isn't it worth belonging when just one radio script or print ad can bring in several new customers?

It's all about selling more flowers, isn't it? SAF keeps flowers on consumers' minds throughout the year by showcasing the unique talents and expertise of professional florists. SAF's aggressive public relations programs plus an informative consumer Web site (www.aboutflowers.com) help the entire floral industry supply chain, from grower to retail florist and everyone in between.

And no matter how much we don't like it, the floral industry sometimes gets negative news coverage or references in competitors' advertising. SAF continually monitors the competition and the news media to provide fast, effective responses to counteract disparaging floral references.

Your Voice In Washington

"SAF's efforts on Capitol Hill have saved us money by getting Congress to eliminate costly laws and regulations."
Laura Kantakis
Associated Wholesale Florist, Inc.
Rochelle Park, NJ

SAF is the community of floriculture, the face and voice of a unified, strong floral industry. Whenever legislative or regulatory matters arise that could affect the floral industry, SAF aggressively protects your interests before Congress and other government agencies, speaking in a single voice for the good of the industry. SAF talks to members of Congress each day to ensure that your voice, the voice of floriculture and small business, is heard. From working to increase research funding for the floriculture industry to efforts to protect your business from intrusive regulations, SAF's Government Relations Department works to ensure that you have the freedom to run your business unencumbered by burdensome government rules and regulations.

And if you want to get more involved in the political process, SAF assists in connecting you with lawmakers to help influence legislation and regulation. Through Congressional Action Days and other opportunities, SAF allows you to better understand and get involved with the legislative process.

Building a Strong Floral Community

"I belong to your association because it makes a difference in our Industry, because you raise the level of excellence for all of us in the industry and make us proud to belong to an association that makes a difference. I am proud to say I belong to SAF and because of your progressivesness it helps all of us in the industry to achieve our dreams."
Cathy Anstett

To fully understand the challenges and opportunities the industry faces, you must see it as a whole. SAF helps you "connect the dots," enabling you to see beyond your own business concerns and understand the dynamics of the entire marketplace. You'll see and hear from all segments of the industry in SAF publications and at SAF events.
